Some industrial gear oils are produced with a synthetic base, some of which are based on poly-alpha-olefin (PAO) and others with a polyglycol base (PG). These types of oils work in the most extreme working conditions (high-high-high-temperature) in a wide range of temperatures and have a much longer life span than mineral oils. Oils based on PG are not compatible with PAO base oils.
